My wish for you...

Good morning and happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday weekend. It's time for a new sketch reveal at Let's Get Sketchy. Here's my inspiration page based off the wonderful sketch designed by Laura Whitaker.
I used Prima's Time Traveler range for this page. I distressed all the layers and did a bit of random punching throughout. I stamped aorund the background with some Kaisercraft stamps and Prima chalk ink in dark bark. The flowers are from Prima with a few from my stash mixed in.  The vintage lace and buttons are from my stash.
And here's this week's sketch
I hope you get the chance join us. You can link up your project by the end of the month here under week 4.

Liebster Award

I have been nominated by Darcy at Our house of E to participate in the Liebster Award! How awesome is that? I'm really honored.
The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.  It is a way to bring attention to these blogs and build the blogging community.  The meaning of  Liebster in German means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. I will begin by sharing the rules:

1.Thank the blogger who nominates you.

2.Answer the 10 questions she/he asks of you.

3. List 11 random facts about yourself.

4.Nominate 10 bloggers with less than 200 followers.

5.Ask these 10 bloggers 10 questions of your own.

6.Let them know you have nominated them.

My 11 random facts, some of which very few people know :
1. I love hot/spicy food.
2. I have 1 sister and 1 brother, I'm the oldest.
3. My favorite actor is Liam Neeson.
4. I love roller coasters, but oddly enough I'm afraid of heights.
5. My favorite color is purple, but I've never scrapped with it.
6. I love to bake. I used to be a cake decorator part-time.
7. I have 2 babies waiting for me in heaven.
8. I would love to travel more.
9. I have a Sportster 1200, and love to go riding with my husband.
10. I'm a Virgo. I don't really get into the daily horoscope reading, but most of the characteristics associated with the sign  really do apply to me.
11.  I listen to Classic Rock while I scrap.

Here are the questions Darcy asked:
1. What brought you to the scrap world? The birth of our daughter. I received a scrapbook as a shower gift.
2. What is your favourite embellishment? Definitely flowers, I find it hard to not use them.
3. What is your least favourite new trend? I struggle with the geometrical shapes like triangles.
4. What is the last movie you watched and would you recommend it? I haven't seen any new releases lately. But I watched "P.S. I love you" again a couple nights ago. I think it's one of my favorites.
5. Do you enjoy reading? Yes, I'm an avid reader.
6. What languages can you speak? I took 4 years of Spanish, but I'm getting a little rusty.
7. What is your favourite outdoor activity? Horseback riding, especially up in the mountains.
8. Do you enjoy gardening? Yes, flower gardening. I've tried vegetable gardening with not much luck. If I had to feed my family I'm afraid we'd starve.
9. Are you an animal lover? Yes, we have dogs, cats, and horses.
10. How far do you live from your childhood home? Almost 600 miles south.

The 10 blogs that I've chosen to nominate are:
Brenshevia- A Little Piece of Me
Carol- Imagine
Debbie- Telling Our Story
Lisa- The Paper Attic
Monica- Happy Scrappn 2
Sonja- Scrappenmetsonja

And my questions for the above ladies are:
1. If you could meet 1 famous person (alive or deceased) who would you want that be?
2. What place would you most like to visit?
3. What is your "must have" tool when scrapping?
4. If you could change 1 thing about yourself what would that be?
5. What is your least favorite color to scrap with?
6. Do you listen to music or do you prefer quiet while you're creating?
7. Describe yourself in three words.
8. What is your favorite movie?
9. Are you an early bird or a night owl?

...still a rose

Good morning! Can you believe we are half way through May already? This year is going to fly by way too fast. My daughter's eight grade graduation is tomorrow. Yikes I'm really starting to feel old and a bit sad to think in just four short years she'll be graduating high school. But I'm so incredibly proud of her. She's been in advanced classes all through junior high and for her freshman year she's taking two college courses. We have definitely been blessed.  Anyhoo, it's reveal time again at Colorful Creations and we have a fabulous sketch to get your creative mojo going! Here's my take.
For this page I decided to use up some of my older scraps so I've mixed papers from Bo Bunny, MME, and Prima. I did a little random punching and then distressed the background edges. To tone down the paper a bit more I used a sponge and dabbed on some gesso here and there. The flowers are from Spare Parts and my stash. The larger fabric ones were originally a cream color that I colored to match the photo better. And here's our sketch
Now it's your turn. You have two weeks to link up your projects here. I can't wait to see your beautiful creations! Thanks so much for stopping in! Have a wonderful day!

This moment

Good morning! Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and Mother's Day. The weekends always go by way too quickly though don't they? Today I have a new sketch reveal from Let's Get Sketchy and my inspiration page to share with you.
For this page I used papers from Prima's Anna Marie range, and did some stamping on the background using a Prima stitches stamp and a print stamp I had on hand. The flowers are a mix from Prima, Wild Orchid, and my stash.  The wooden clock and flair are also from Prima. The metal elements are from Tim Holtz and Spare Parts. And I gave the background a few splatters with Magenta and White acrylic paints.
I pleated the paper then affixed the lace to make it look like the lace was pulling it back, holding it in place, then topped it with a big double bow.
And here's our fun, versatile sketch for you this week
Now it's your turn so go grab your scrappy supplies and join us. I can't wait to see your creations. Remember you have until the end of the month to link your projects here. Thanks for popping in! Hope you have a fabulous day!

Together

Good morning! It's reveal time again at Stick It Down! And here's my inspiration page based off this week's sketch.
For this page I used Crate Paper's Styleboard collection. This is such a fun collection. I really enjoyed working with this sketch and tried to stick as close to the design as I could, but I went a bit crazy with the layers. I couldn't seem to stop. As soon as I thought I was done I'd turn around and cut something else out and tuck it in.
And here's this week's fabulous sketch
If you have the time please go check out the fantastic creations the rest of the DT have done to inspire you. And I hope you get the chance to join us this week. You can link your projects here. Thanks so much for stopping in! I truly appreciate it! Have a delightful day!

Your life changed mine

Hi there everyone! I have a bit of exciting news and a layout to share today. I have been asked to join the design team for Black With Two. I'm really honored to be joining this group of crazy talented ladies. And I have my very first DT layout to share that I created using the May mood board that just went live.
And here's the page I created.
I used Authentique and Prima papers matted on plain black cardstock peeking through the punched border. I promise you that all the papers are black or varying shades of gray. The only white I used is the mat directly under the photo. I used modeling paste mixed with acrylic paint in Slate gray with a Prima stencil for some texture, then I added pearls to the stenciling for extra interest. The flowers are a mix of Prima, Petaloo, and a few from my stash. I pleated the gray ribbon then layered  it on top of the Maya Road trim, adding a bow and hummingbird charm to finish it off.
I hope you get the chance to join us. You have until the end of the month to link up your creation with us here. Thanks so much for dropping by! Hope you have a wonderful day!
